We are at a point in the evolutionary cycle where the competitive spirit, powered by the developing concrete mind, is most definitely the dominant characteristic in many human relationships. Competition is the game we play and for many it is the only way. Women vie against each other; men against men; mothers against daughters, as are fathers and sons; children against children, friend against friend; businessmen, politicians; religions and races…..all striving to outplay the other in one way or another. Such is the compelling impetus of the times! The little ego struggles to the bitter end or bends in obeisance to the stronger will, and always the same result – a no win-win. Competition is the game we play and for many there seems to be no other way.
Now imagine a world in which there is no cut-throat competition; a world where each person looks out for the other because there is clear understanding of the true value of human life; imagine the human relationship devoid of this crippling competition for material gain. It is vitally necessary for us to reflect on the possible existence of such a world, for the main impediment to it lies in our continual wrong thinking!
Here’s a statement:
“EQUALITY IS CONTAINED IN THE POTENTIALITY OF SPIRIT”
At the core of humanity and in the very heart of each is the essence of power. We forget this:
WE ARE FULL OF POTENTIAL! Until we acknowledge this latent potency in our own being, and in the being of everyone we meet, competition and its selfish characteristics will dominate.
When we compare ourselves with others, we are, in effect, debasing this latent potential. What we fail to realise in the busy-ness of life is that there are those among us who have invested the necessary time and effort to develop one, two, or three of the personality vehicles in which spirit must live while embodied. These personal developments vary in each individual and are used for selfish or unselfish purposes. Our full potential manifests where there has been conscious refinement of all three bodies, and a direct alignment with That which stands above. Only then does true power become available to think intuitively, to love unconditionally, and to conduct our lives in selfless service to our fellow men.
There are those among us who have developed the physical, the emotional, or the mental body; perhaps only one or two of these; perhaps all three. Some have progressed even further, acquiring a facility with the Higher mind and the use of the intuition; for these, the inner power will shine through with unusual expression. We have heard also of those rarest of souls who have gone beyond the human condition, beyond the beyond, ever pointing the way forward that we may follow.
It should be clear that collective equality cannot exist on a personality level; and yet, despite the enormous disparities existing between us, there is a deeper reality:
ALL SOULS ARE EQUAL ON THE INNERMOST PLANE
The differences between us lie in our individual capacity for perfect expression in the three worlds. Some have achieved where others have not; but what is achievable for one is achievable in time for all. This is the key message. At the very core of every human being lies essential power – our individual and collective hope and future glory.
The next time unease arises from the competitive spirit, try to remember that superiority or inferiority is a manifestation of achievement, or lack of, within a particular human framework. This achievement/non-achievement manifests as a result of personal effort, or lack of, in an area of one’s being. Praise, then, should be given where it is truly deserved and an understanding spirit would be required where there is apparent lack. Personal achievement is a question of right effort consistently applied at the appointed time. In some time-span, maybe now or later, development is assured for each and all through the inherent drive of inner potential.
Power is our natural birthright and awakens in all the need for progressive change in expression. What is required is the acknowledgment of that need in the particular time and space appointed, and the EFFORT TO WORK AT IT INTELLIGENTLY.
