1st kingdom : The Mineral
2nd kingdom: The Vegetable
3rd kingdom : The Animal
4th kingdom : The Human
Here’s a list of the visible kingdoms in the perceivable world – as far as human consciousness is concerned. We can, at a glance, note the basic differences in physical structure and levels of consciousness if we look with a clear, perceptive eye. Intuitive insight, however, will provide even more understanding of the intrinsic differences in states of consciousness of these kingdoms, if we take the time to reflect more deeply on them. But are there other kingdoms that are unseen by us? Do they exist outside our known world? Are we the only intelligent life forms in the cosmos?
These are pertinent questions requiring open-mindedness, common-sense, and expansion in consciousness. There are many science fiction books/movies on the market today depicting superhuman characters who are intrinsically human in essence, and many of us entertain happily – if only in the privacy of our imaginations – the idea of such a possibility, and we ask ourselves: ‘Can we, indeed, go beyond the accepted human paradigm and become something far greater?’ We read in books (fairytales, for instance) and view on the screen, expressions of dark imaginings bordering on the horrific; they create a deep fear of the unknown in the collective subconscious, which plays havoc in the collective imagination. These dark thoughts may prompt a strong refusal in the mind to accept the very plausible possibility that there may indeed be other kingdoms in nature of which we are totally unaware. The apparent sightings of UFOs in our world today are now engaging the minds of many who are beginning to sense strongly the existence, in some form or other, of extra-ordinary beings among us, or at least, outside our normal range of perception.
Fear is one of mankind’s potent enemies; it is a great suppressor of the human spirit and many of us are plagued by it. As a child I came upon the idea, as we all do, of the existence of life-forms beyond our visual perception, and it was frightening. The thought of unknown kingdoms in the universe was strange to me and it seemed then, to be a highly plausible idea. The mind, however, could not, or did not, want to entertain the possibility because it required keeping the consciousness open to the Unknown. It is so much easier to close the mind down and live one’s life strictly in the Known. I understand perfectly the natural fear created by a close scrutiny of such ideas and it takes courage to come to terms with the very real fact of the Unknown. But like a child afraid of the dark, there comes a point when we have to grow up, take a stand, and literally embrace the Unknown . . . BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS FACING US! When we take this step out of complacency, our view of the world changes and life becomes more of an adventure, as it should be. Life, indeed, becomes a high adventure when we walk the path of the Unknown with careful abandon and good common sense.

The universe is filled with countless beings that populate the illimitable space in the cosmos. Of this I have absolutely no doubt. I no longer see this clear possibility as a fearful idea, but rather a hopeful and encouraging fact of the universe. How limiting it would be if the human kingdom were the last in the cycle of consciousness. There is far more to life than what meets the eyes and as we evolve steadily along the human path, we come to sense, in a natural progression, just what lies ahead of us and so enter a more advanced stage of being that lies beyond the present paradigm; in this way we learn to embrace all that comes to us along the journey – for a journey indeed it is; we meet those challenges that are necessary for our inner growth and development. The whole process of the evolution of consciousness from darkness to light is the key to the understanding of life, and to our sanity as a fourth kingdom in nature. It gives much-needed insight into our past and much-needed hope for our future.
The more advanced kingdoms in nature are invisible to our present human consciousness, and that is as it should be. These kingdoms are comprised of those Beings who have gone beyond the human condition and we may call them, for want of a better term, the superhuman kingdoms, or the fifth, sixth and seventh kingdoms in nature. Their understanding of Life and the cosmos, and their abilities in terms of power and achievement are far superior to the present humanity, and it would be impossible for us at our point of development to conceive their accomplished state of being. Yet, because they have passed through the human kingdom on the evolutionary ladder and have successfully achieved the status required for the higher kingdoms, we may be assured of Their unseen presence among us as experienced Older Brothers, ever ready to assist where true assistance is needed.
The journey of Life at our present stage of human existence is anything but dull, so long as we refuse to be limited by the humdrum existence of routine and conditioned thinking. It is easy, however, to slip into inertia, man’s greatest tempter, and be carried along aimlessly like a pebble in a fast-moving river. We are not pebbles in a stream for we are at a stage where mind is active and can be put to very good use in the development of higher vision and deeper understanding. Let us delight in the use of the mind and so discover the next step on our journey together. May we enjoy Life and steer clear of those pitfalls which dull the senses and corrupt the human expression.
