LIFE DEMANDS ACTIVITY

Life does not demand acquiescence and acceptance. It demands activity, the separation of the good and high values from the undesirable, the cultivation of that spirit of fight which will produce organisation, understanding, and eventual emergence into a realm of useful spiritual (and physical plane) activity.

It is easy to fall into the habit of just ‘going along’ with the status quo and with what others think and believe, most of us do, for it is easier to be passive and compliant because it requires less effort and energy. Life for many people is difficult as it now stands, what with earning a living (often at a job we don’t enjoy), paying high mortgages/rent to maintain a roof over the head, forking out exorbitant fees for the children’s education, and maintaining the general cost of living, costs which increase exponentially each year. The system under which we live is sorely lacking in soul, and like a machine it drives us on whether we like it or not. Many of us, however, acknowledge clearly a need for fundamental change at the core of our collective mind-set, and it is encouraging to see so many people who are beginning to rise to the occassion and in large group formations.

The recent general elections in Britain demonstrates clearly the changing mood of the nation, a collective mood that inspires the cultivation of the spirit of fight, which is producing more intelligent group organisation and understanding, and hopefully, an emergence into a realm of true spiritual and physical plane activity. During the recent elections, however, there arose in the hearts of many people a real desire and hope for some form of political and economic reform. Many were disappointed and indeed surprised by what actually occurred: a disorganised national scramble motivated by a strong desire for security. What transpired in the event was the fighting of the little wills of men (politicians and populace alike) for the things they want, and the forgetting, in the excitement of election polls and the race for power, of what is truly important and urgently needed.

What are the major issues confronting the survival of humanity today?

It is the glaring fact of global inequality existing on a vast scale. It is the greedy hands of corporate power and the inability of governments to constrain exploitation through implementation of sound laws founded on principle. It is the mindless abuse of our planet and the mismanagement and dreadful waste of its blessed resources. It is the erroneous idea that the God-given land on which we stand is a commodity, to be bought, owned and sold at exorbitant market prices – a long-standing idea which creates gross inequality of wealth through unrightful ownership of land by a privileged few; a system which incurs dire consequences on the majority and is deeply responsible for the exploitation of human beings and the decline of social well-being everywhere.  It is this inability to understand that the gifts of nature are to be shared which causes so much unnecessary suffering in the world.

This question of land ownership, in my view, is one of the major issues facing humanity as a collective Being, and which affects greatly the delicate balance of harmony and right human relations. There is great need for us all to wake up to what is staring us full in the face; we may do this by learning to separate the good and high values from the undesirable, for solutions are ever simple when we adhere to principle.
What is good for one is good for all.
