To Become the Path

If we could observe the path of an individual soul,

covering an expanse of several lifetimes,

we might note a turning-point

marked by an actual change in the atomic substance

of the individual’s vehicles (physical, emotional, and mental bodies).

The probationer who starts out quite tentatively,

uncertain of anything that is not tangible,

measurable or visible,

works through vehicles comprised of the same substance

as ordinary human beings.

In fact, there would be no observable change

in the structure of the atoms of the bodies

until the seeker leaves behind the status of aspirant

and becomes unswervingly committed to treading the Path of Ascent.

When this commitment is made,

in full awareness

of the consequences likely to result in the life of the personality,

it marks the personality’s first true act of surrender

to the Higher Self.

In a flash, a switch is flipped on

allowing light of a higher frequency to pour into his vehicles,

in response to that inner vow to mount the Path of Ascent.

From that point onward,

there is a need for intermittent reaffirmations of that vow,

as this path is anything but straight.

But there comes a time when the personality’s surrender

is irreversible and Higher light floods the soul,

easing the remainder of the way beyond previous imaginings.

At each forward step in the zigzag course of the new journey,

another modicum of light is added to the soul and its vehicles

until the point is reached where the individual becomes

an embodiment of light in ways observable to others,

thus ‘becoming’ the Path—a way by which others may achieve.
