Our earthly existence is about learning, about choosing to be our truest self. Life is a great adventure and should be cherished for the many opportunities it presents for self-improvement and enlightenment. But the familiar and habitual are falsely reassuring, that most of us make our homes here permanently and live a slow death. The new is always by definition unfamiliar and untested, and therefore feared. As a result, life and suffering have to give us a push, and usually a big one to move us on.
We should be wiser now–and a little more daring too–and wake up to the fact that we can set out from the known and familiar to begin a new journey, one that beckons us forward and upward. The opportunity for change is now open to us as we enter the birth pangs of a new creation story.
