The Soul is a living reflection of its Source which resides on the higher planes of the planetary system. Like its Source the Soul is, in essence, consciousness, knowledge and bliss, and is ever connected by a thread-of-Life to serve the purpose of the One above.
Situated on the higher levels of the mental plane, the Soul is shrouded in a causal body composed of formless matter. And there it remains for countless lives expanding in consciousness through impressions received from the lower mental, emotional and physical planes. It receives these impressions from the lower planes through an extension of itself in the form of a life-thread. This thread is anchored in the brain and heart of each new embodiment.
After long experience in the substance of the lower planes, the Soul begins to sense a pull from its Source above and turns its attention upward. It begins to long for something that the lower planes cannot give. At a certain point of achievement on the upward path, it releases all attachments to the lower planes and becomes entirely free of the necessity to return to physical embodiment. This is the journey of every soul and the eventual outcome on the spiritual path of ascent.
