I found this piece of writing recently in one of my files. It’s something I valued and wrote down because it rings true. The author seemed awake and aware of the very positive things that are happening all the time but which remain hidden from view behind the drama of world affairs. This is what he says:

“Take the time and effort to seek out sources and stories of all the good that is happening in the world—and there is a lot of it! For from our time being plunged into a darkness of hopelessness, hope is being generated all over the place, often in small and local efforts to change the world and create wholeness but at times in large-scale efforts as well. The thing is that most national and Internet media are not geared to report on these kinds of things; they are attracted to the drama found in conflict and challenge, to the problems and not to the solutions. If we depend only on broadcast TV or news websites, not to mention the various partisan websites promoting adversarial positions and perspectives, we will not get a balanced picture of the world; chances are we will see little that can give us hope. But hope and vision and good works are all there to be found if we are willing to look for them.”
It’s very good advice. Let’s take the time to see the good that is there in the world and to point it out and spread the word as often as we can.
