It is not primarily as a religious leader that the Avatar of Love will come. We may look for Him rather as an educationalist in the widest sense of the word, advocating changes in our political, economic and social life. All the spheres of human endeavour are essentially spiritual, each having a fundamental objective in regard to right human relations. But we just don’t realise it.
Spirituality does not refer only to religion. Whatever lifts the human mind above its present level of understanding, whether on the physical, emotional and mental levels, is spiritual. In broadening our understanding of what constitutes spirituality, we begin to realise that whatever we feel, think, or do determines our spiritual relationship with each other, and with God. Whether we know it or not, it is our god-given purpose to transcend all limiting ideas that keep us in ignorance of this fact. The time has come for a spiritual awakening, the like of which we have never known before.
In the New Era hovering on the horizon, the Avatar of Love and Teacher of mankind will show us that spiritual living is the only means to the end, the end being expansions of consciousness that lead us on the path to God, a path that is wide and varied enough to accommodate all men and women in every field of endeavour. In the new age, we will come to understand the spiritual meaning of life and so give it full expression in everything we do.
Today, it is only the seer or the mystic who know and understand the facts. In the future, this will become the experience of all men and women—whatever their way of life. Religion is one way, a specific way, but not all of us are religious. The Teacher of all will teach all who are awakening to higher truths, regardless of religion. He will show the path, the scientific path, the path of Initiation that is unknown to most. There is much to hear and understand about this path. Under His spiritual guidance and stimulus, we will see and know the truth about ourselves and these truths will set us free.
It is His mission to establish the Kingdom of God, outwardly, in the world. He will fulfil this mission only if we respond to the need of the time to transform ourselves along more spiritual lines. Many are rising up today in all fields of endeavour to make this happen.
