“In the recognition of what is truly happening to humanity as a whole, true thinkers can serve. Many are beginning to focus the mind and heart on things that truly matter and to express themselves in a living manner. It is the ordinary people of the world who sense what is going on behind outward appearances and are gradually rallying together in one way or another to meet the urgent need. The intrinsic awareness of humanity is becoming more expressively awake to the soul and its way of true service.
The urgent need in our vastly changing world is for men and women everywhere to arouse themselves to true service, and to a sense of responsibility for the welfare of the planet and the human race as a whole. The challenge for all is to seek and achieve a larger world view which would lead to full cooperation in averting world disaster. The obstacles to world cooperation lie in a preoccupation with personal affairs, in the lack of immediacy in relation to world need, in a preference for personal development, our own families, our own problems, and the turning of a blind eye to the injustices that are rampant everywhere.
As we learn to think more in terms of mankind, our potency and inclusiveness will conform to a larger ideal and so realise that we are in fact one human race. In the rising up of the human spirit towards all that is good, true and just, state policies will inevitably conform to the larger ideal; individuals will be seen and understood in proper relation to the whole.
The goal, in preparation for the new age, is to arouse public opinion toward human rights, the inclusivity of human interests, and to cooperative global interrelations for the benefit of all. We may ask: what can the individual do to assist the cause of humanity and to arrest the tides of evil that are so rampant today in every field of human endeavour? The answer is simple: to fight on the side of the Forces of Light, which many are attempting to do in various ways today. But what of those who question what they can do and are willing to play their part, but don’t know how?
There are things we can all do to fight on the side of the Forces of Light. We can start “by eliminating prejudices, national pride and religious antipathies out of our consciousness. We can recognise our shortcomings and develop a spirit of tolerance and forgiveness. We can refuse to be afraid of the results of our right and positive actions.” We are reminded of the Great One who warned humanity two millennia ago: “Be not afraid of those who would kill the body, but fear only those who seek to kill the soul.”
“Let each of us sense the true vision for ourselves and for mankind, recognising each hindrance as it arises and so deal with innate prejudices and fears. Once these are seen clearly for what they are, it will become apparent what must be done. The details are for each one to decide in the light of their own Soul and the methods to be employed. May we range ourselves on the side of the Forces of Light, upholding those who are striving for world peace and security in preparation for the inauguration of the new age.
Let us realise that “the attitude of the passive onlooker is not that of an agent of the Forces of Light or of a lover of mankind. The great error of the neutrally-minded and of the pacifist is their refusal to identify constructively with human pain. By thought, word and deed, the lover of humanity will enter the battle against evil; with complete self-forgetfulness he/she will take up the cause of humanity, hiding not behind the sense of futility and seeking no alibi in a misinterpreted idealism. He/she faces the fact of the present situation in the light which streams from the vision itself, pressing forward into the age of right human relations, of spiritual unity and shared resources with complete confidence as the sense of values is adjusted.”
Such are the wise words of One who loved humanity.
