The human being possesses two physical eyes and a potential third eye situated within the etheric body of all human beings. When the third eye becomes active and functional it registers higher impressions pouring in from the inner realms of our multifaceted being. Many of us are beginning to acknowledge that there is more to life than what meets the sense of sight, touch, hearing, taste and smell, and numbers are growing exponentially as we enter the aura of the new age. Indeed, there is much more to Life than what meets the two eyes!
Knowledge of the third eye is ancient and no longer esoteric; we can find books available in stores and on the internet which offer inspiring information on the subject. Those who come upon the idea for the first time may find it strange and feel inclined to dismiss the idea as airy-fairy imaginings, born of new-age thinking. This is understandable for new ideas cannot take root in the mind and begin to make sense until there is a point of readiness and receptivity.
Just as the two physical eyes came into being in response to the light of the sun so long ago in the forgotten chasms of time, in the same way the third eye becomes active at a later stage in the evolutionary cycle, but it does so in response to a more powerful light––that of the soul. The blockage to this light over eons is caused by the undeveloped sheaths of the personality: the lower mental, astral/emotional, and physical bodies. When these three vehicles of consciousness are undeveloped and non-integrated, they block the higher frequencies, making it difficult for the physical brain to register higher impressions which are ever seeking to pour through from higher planes. The lower the frequency of the personality vehicles, the more obscured is the light.
As the strength of the soul’s light increases over time through conscious expansion wrought through lifetimes of inner growth and experience, the purification and integration of the three lower bodies allow a greater measure of light to pour through from the soul. It is the refinement of the three lower bodies and the consequent emerging light of the soul which ignites the activity of the third eye. It is achieved through the purifying process of spiritual development, the effects of which are registered by the physical brain cells. The path of ascent becomes a living reality.
The apparatus responsible for the reception and direction of Light coming from higher levels is the ajna centre situated in front of the nose bridge. It is one of the four higher etheric centres that is instrumental to soul/personality integration.
The third eye is not a physical mechanism as are the two eyes which were developed to provide awareness of physical plane objects and activities. The five physical senses, of which the two eyes are one, are attuned naturally to objects of the dense world and are not equipped to experience what lies in subtler realms. As mentioned above, the development of the third eye provides the connections between the physical and inner subjective realms. It is closely and directly related to the single eye of the spiritual man. The single eye is the mechanism for the soul to look outward into the world of men and inward toward Those Who dwell in higher realms.
The constitution of Man is multidimensional. Our past and present educational systems provide us with knowledge of the physical body and its various functions. The study of psychology educates us in the mechanisms of the mind and emotions and the effects they have on the physical body. Secular religious education informs us of that which lies beyond the three worlds but often in a limited and bigoted way. With all the information we have received and continue to receive in this age of global technology, many of us remain in ignorance of the ageless and vital knowledge concerning the soul and its mechanism, the third eye.
Perhaps it is time to discover and understand who we are and our true constitution. In the new age rapidly unfolding, the relative darkness of the mind in which we have lived for millennia will gradually disappear as we uncover the Truth as given in wisdom teachings. Will come to understand WHO we are and WHY we are. The growing departure from old beliefs in our world today is evidence of the birthing of the third eye in many.
Access to higher knowledge and the intuitive grasp of truth require an open, intelligent and educated mind-set willing to discard the old for the new; a mind that is free to some degree from the ancient and oppressive influences of glamour and illusion which are instrumental in obscuring the light of truth.
There is much to understand in the vital field of metaphysics: the knowledge of who we are, why we are, where we have come from, and the spiritual path that will lead to greater light. These are fundamental points of discussion that should engage every intelligent human being, the pursuit of which will most assuredly enrich the collective mind and heart with a worthy plan and purpose as we enter the new age. It is achieved as the soul awakens and becomes receptive to the higher frequencies of the new era.
