“Enfranchisement is a very tender topic. There is something in it that draws people together, an ‘assumed’ certainty that brings a level of comfort, a touchstone, a solid platform upon which ideas and decisions are made. The platform might be complete atheism: “There is no Divine Source. There is no Divine Plan. There is no . . . whatever.”
When we speak of spiritual worldviews, we speak of everyone because one way or another, articulated or unarticulated, everyone has a spiritual basis upon which they form ideas and build decisions.
Some may say they are not spiritual. It would be wise to examine the basis on which they make their decisions, how they think of themselves, how they interact with their fellow citizens and with their environment. They may clutter the environment and stomp on their fellow citizens and prune themselves in the mirror and say they do not believe in God.
I will not judge them, but I will tell them that they do have a spiritual worldview, and their spiritual worldview at this particular point and in this particular incarnation, is that they see themselves as the centre of the universe and that others do not matter.
It is wise never to throw stones because most souls have had at least one, two or several such lives in their experience, though they cannot remember. The point is, no matter where you are, the set of values upon which you base your interactions with self, others, and the environment, is your spiritual view. . .your enfranchisement.
You may consider yourself to be right in your point of view of life and that is fine. If one group is not talking to another group, if one group decides that their franchise is more valuable – is more ancient, is more this or less that, more important, more useful – then let them be willing to share their views non-judgmentally. Let them bring to the table what they feel has value, and then openly listen to what someone else says, what another group says about their franchise.
Unless the human race decides to seek the commonalities and allow for differences that are actually branches from common core Truths, then the chances of finding happiness on Earth diminish; the chances of finding peace on Earth diminish; the chances of surviving the evolutionary shift that is now upon us, diminish. When you, as a human race, decide to seek the commonalities between you rather than cling to the defamation of others, you will then find yourselves on the path to spiritual maturity.
The Wise Ones speak to humanity of sharing but so many within the race think of this principle as sharing their food, sharing their homes, their financial resources, their country’s resources. But do they ever think of sharing their most valued beliefs – be they a conviction that the Divine is in everything, or the conviction that the Divine does not exist?
By sharing I do not mean thundering to say, “My way is the right way!” No. I mean the kind of sharing that one is likely to see after a disaster, where one family, for instance, salvages a blanket and shares it with another. I speak of sharing that comes from the heart, sharing that comes from the belief that if we do this together, whatever it may be, we will all be rather better off than if we did it independently.
You can all have your franchise, your groups can have their franchises, but it is only the sharing at the spiritual level that will go a very long way in moving humanity forward. It is not trying to convert anyone – but simply sitting down and sharing from the heart until you find the commonalities between you, and can then lovingly tease each other about the differences, because you have found the core truths that truly matter and which alone binds you into One.”
