When One Goes ‘Haywire’ . . .

The Wise Ones come from age to age to teach us about Self-awareness

“Mind, emotions and body are full of energies. When one goes ‘haywire’, for whatever reason, they can make one go mad, or become inhumane. In fact, the Soul, the true Self within us, has no control over the forces playing within the personality when violent acts occur. There is no communication in these moments between the Soul and the mind, emotions and body. We can see these scenarios playing out on a greater scale in our confused world today.

The Wise Ones, over the ages, have come to teach us about salvation. In awareness lies salvation. In awareness we learn to control the energies within us. Only in awareness is there equilibrium.

A person asked a sage: “What happens with a murderer? Does God guide him?” He gave this example: “If you are sitting on a settee and there are mosquitoes about, what do you do? You swat the mosquitoes and kill them. Ask yourself what the energy behind you is. Did you feel any pain, any regrets? You swatted a mosquito; the mosquito died. There is no thought formation in your mind. When the energy goes through you, you strike. The same occurs with a murderer or any perpetrator. In the lack of awareness, one is unaware of the energies being out of balance.

Equilibrium in mind, emotion and body would enable one to express that same energy in another way. The key is awareness. The person in equilibrium experiences a state of freedom within. He will not commit offences.

When a perpetrator is penalised or executed, depending on the crime committed, the physical body is usually punished, but can you punish the mind? For it is the mind, not the physical body, which is responsible for the act. We think we destroy the cause of the offence by punishing or destroying the physical body but the problem is never solved this way.

In the case of execution, once dissociated from the body, the mind still runs the course of its mental life. It may then act as an invisible force and come into contact with another mind in a physical body, compelling it to act in a similar way.

The Wise One says to scientists, psychologists and doctors: “Try to investigate this problem by helping the person distinguish between the true Self and its environment.”

Self realization is a gradual process entailing non-identification with anger and other destructive emotions and ideas. It brings equilibrium to the mind, emotions, and body. Awareness of one’s true Self is the solution to uncontrolled behaviour.

The true Self is ever-free;

the unbalanced personality is ever the perpetrator
