DO WE FOCUS CONSCIOUSNESS ON OTHER PLANES?

In our world today – and more than ever before – there is a glut of information available on every subject under the sun, so much so, that we are often unable to see the forest for the trees! But there is something far more essential than mere acquisition of knowledge: it is the penetrative search for real meaning in what we read or hear.

It is so very easy to remain passive and content with surface information, thinking to ourselves, ‘Ah! Now I understand,‘ when the idea is somewhat grasped, or… ‘What on earth is all this about?’ when we don’t understandBut it is another matter altogether when we make that special effort to penetrate the information we receive; when we use the intuitive mind to pierce the underlying common sense in any given knowledge.

We are very prone to forming strong opinions about things that we don’t really know or understand. We all do it! We hold on to our opinions as if our lives depended on them and are ready to argue our point, even when we know it reeks of ignor-ance. We do this because we believe that we are perfectly entitled to our own opinions, no matter what! Adolescents are masters at this game and it is often very difficult to encourage them to look with a more intuitive eye for their personal opinions often matter far more to them than the truth. It takes real guts and wakefulness to admit that we really don’t know, and that maybe – just maybe – there are others who are truly more enlightened. Humility and sound common sense are the two most valuable companions to seek out.

Here is a question: Do we focus our consciousness on other planes? For some people the idea is strange due to unfamiliarity or perhaps a lack of interest; others may find it a very pertinent question and one of great interest; perhaps they have enquired into these matters and would like to understand more. In response to the question I would say that we are very astute at focussing our consciousness or sense of awareness on other planes. We just don’t realise that we are doing it!

Every night deep in the hours of sleep we leave the physical plane and are alive and functioning elsewhere. Is this a strange idea to you? Because we cannot as yet bring back into the physical brain consciousness the memory of having passed out of the body each night and the interval spent in active living on other planes, the waking brain consciousness refuses to acknowledge the possibility, and the existence of other planes. I say that there is far more to Life than what meets the eyes!

The process of daily sleep and the process of dying are almost identical. The difference between sleep and death lies in the condition of the two intangible streams that were mentioned in a previous posting (See: ‘Are we Simply Energy Packets’). The intangible stream that is anchored in the heart animates and preserves every atom in the physical body; and the other stream anchored to a ‘seat’ in the brain, induces intelligent rationality in time and space, providing self-consciousness and self-direction.

During sleep, the ‘Life stream’ remains anchored to the heart and is preserved in tact; it constitutes the path of return to the body on awakening; the ‘consciousness stream’, however, which is usually anchored in the brain, withdraws to the inner planes during sleep and returns on awakening because of the anchored Life stream.

In death, the Life stream that is anchored in the heart is finally broken and both streams withdraw naturally to their SOURCE. It is simple to understand if you ‘see’ yourself as a conscious entity and not just as a physical body.

It is from the SOURCE of these two streams that You and I seek to control the physical mechanism, the emotions, and the mind – THREE DISTINCT PLANES!

When engrossed in thought, or in some form of artistic creativity, we, as conscious entities are focussed there, using the mind-stuff of that plane. Conversely, when engrossed in some feeling – pleasant or otherwise – we are focussed on the emotional plane and use the material there. We cannot see the material of these two planes with our eyes because they are not as dense as matter on the physical plane! They ARE, however, two distinct planes and we are most certainly very familiar with them.

If we tentatively agree to the hypothesis that there are indeed three planes with which we are fairly familiar, the question then arises: ‘Are there other planes beyond these three, and can we – or do we – access them? What expansions in consciousness are necessary before we are able to experience them?

  1. Beautifully described, particularly the similarities and differences between the “sleeping” and “death” states.

My own personal experience suggests that when we sleep, we “die to the physical plane and are alive and functioning elsewhere”. I have found that dreams are one means of remembering and using that experience.

    1. Yes. Vivid dreams can be clear indications of inner experiences. We tend to relegate them to being…… just dreams!

Of course there are different kinds of dreams.

You have those that are absurd and pretty meaningless. They seem to be left-over impressions from the day’s sojourn.

Others are crystal clear, or aspects of it are very clear, and we seem to have a sense of the event actually happening in another time and space.

Some dreams are teaching dreams, and even if the meaning is not absolutely clear, we know intuitively that something valuable has been gained even though the brain is unable to bring it down fully.

Thank you for dropping in and for your input.
