Q: What is the role of the mind on the spiritual Path?
R: The initial goal for aspirants on the Path is to develop mental control of the emotional body.
Progress on the Path requires that the mind of the seeker is able to register the light of the soul, which becomes possible when the mind exerts its power over the emotions.
As this occurs, the practices most essential to the spiritual path can be learned: dispassion, detachment, and right discernment.
Discernment of truth requires a purified stream of soul light to reach the mind. Recognition of truth and adherence to it create the conditions for the soul’s steady progress on the Path and effective contribution to a field of service.
They form an indestructible base upon which the soul can construct the bridge of light to the inner world while standing in the light of truth in the outer world. (May 2021)
