THE TEACHINGS OF THE HEART

All that’s happening in our world today is a summons to a call for unity of consciousness; many are beginning to sense the urgency of this call. We know in our hearts that unity is essential for the welfare of humanity and for the planet in which we live, move, and have our being. Yet, the forces of selfishness and separateness continue to eclipse the Teachings of the Heart, despite the fact that we know instinctively that love is the cure to all our problems.

It’s interesting to observe the collective response of humanity when moved by some heart-rending global event: the victims of war in Ukraine, the beleaguered Palestinians in Gaza, the long-suffering civilians of Syria, the plight of the Sudanese, and so many other heart-rending situations across the globe, all stirring deeper feelings of love in the collective solar plexus. In these empathic moments, we experience the exquisite feeling of camaraderie as we lose sight of our individual petty concerns; generosity begins to flow freely in the heart and the cold, hard edges of our personalities melt like ice in the genuine warmth and sweetness of collective friendship.

Each time we activate the feeling of love in our hearts, the seed of Universal Love is watered, creating the possibility for new growth and further expansions in consciousness that will move humanity forward. The Teachings of the Heart provide clear solutions to the present impasse, if we would only listen. Until we realize that we are one human race, we will continue to live in the illusion of separative existence, ignorant of the One Life that runs through our collective veins.

It’s disheartening to observe the legions of ‘educated’ individuals in the world who avoid at any cost discussions related to esoteric knowledge. Many have little interest in exploring the deeper issues of life, believing there is no way to uncover those truths which explain the human condition; minds are closed to higher Teachings and remain so due to prejudicial beliefs or conditioned thinking often caused by a deep-seated distaste for anything religious or ‘other-worldly’, or simply because of the inability to think more deeply.

I am reminded of an old western movie I viewed recently. It depicted so clearly the extreme polarity that exists between uncivilised humanity and those whose hearts and minds are open, much like it is in our world today. The lead actor (Gregory Peck) demonstrated the true nature of a wise man. His portrayal of pure reason and love in the face of blind ignorance was exemplary and the effect lingered in my consciousness for days after. It is no wonder that Peck won an award for his meaningful portrayal of a ‘good man’; the movie undoubtedly touched the hearts of those who viewed it. We have been graced over the years with so many excellent screen productions which depict, through intelligent and creative artistry, the Teachings of the Heart. They are invaluable reminders of our true purpose on Earth and of the One Heart of which we are all a part.

As we begin to acknowledge the higher tensions of the collective Heart in this time of world crisis, we grow more aware of the urgent need for drastic change in how we treat each other. Looking carefully at current events, we are witnessing humanity’s gut reactions to injustice and selfishness. Love and reason are coming to the fore, helping us find our true path as a collective and lifting us out of the present impasse.

Until we realize that separation is an illusion, the joy of freedom and rebirth will elude the collective consciousness. Until the ‘Great Prisoner’ is loosened from its many individual bonds, we will not see the light of day to move forward. In Unity alone we grow to fulfill our true purpose on Earth.

  1. I cannot help being reminded of scenes in a film I saw recently; the film, ‘Searching for Sugarman’, the scenes, extraordinary interviews with the subject’s daughters; in which they so openly and articulately expressed their love of their father.

    1. Thank you for visiting. Yes, I know what you mean. When we witness – or better still – experience personally the deeper movements of the heart, we are strongly reminded of who we truly are and why we are here.
